A Modern Tale of Faerie - Oct '09
This meeting was in October.
We discussed the Modern Tale of Faerie by Holly Black:
Tithe
Valiant
Ironside
Please feel free to post your opinions and thoughts about the series!
Here's what we thought:
We were all in agreement that this series was very dark. Holly Black’s trilogy is eery and with mystical hints of hard drug abuse, leaving the reader wanting for sunshine. However, a powerful prose, we all agreed that although short, you’re never left feeling like anything was left out.
We argued Robein vs Ravus, and which story we liked best Kay or Valerie. I think we agreed that Val and Ravus’ story was much more likable, since for a long while you’re still never sure if Robein even really loves Kay. First he sends her on this crazy, impossible quest to prove her love, then when she finally figures it out in the end she decides to live a half-in-half life?
Hmm..
All in all a good series, and a good dark, seductive read for Twilight fans!
